Forrest W. Moore Park
Forrest W. Moore Park is the largest park maintained by the City of Van Alstyne. It is a wonderful community park with 4 lighted tennis courts that are open to the public where you can enjoy playing tennis or pickle ball. They have two playgrounds for kids and the large playground is covered to protect kids from the hot summer sun! There are 4 baseball/softball fields in the park, however, they need to be rented in advance through the city park and recreation department. They have a sand volleyball court, basketball court and walking paths (perfect for a young one learning how to ride a bike). There are several covered picnic areas, concession stands for baseball/softball games and restrooms. They also have a beautiful Pin-Connected Pratt Pony Truss Bridge that was built in 1890. The bridge was installed in the 1930’s on N. Lincoln Park Road going over Sister Grove Creek (it was previously installed in an unknown location from 1890 to the 1930’s). In 2002 the city replaced the bridge on N. Lincoln Park Rd and moved this historic bridge to Forrest W. Moore Park.
